One of the things you mentioned really needs to be emphasized: a lot of people don’t try new things because they don’t want to be bad at them first. And that is truly unfortunate because of how unnecessary that worry is. You were brand new to everything at some point, and it was only by getting in there and being bad at it while continuing to learn and improve your skills that you got to where you are today.
If you are here right now, that likely means two things: 1.) that you know how to read, and 2.) that you know how to type and at least generally use a computer. None of us are born knowing how to do these things, but we learn because people teach/make us. And odds are, there probably aren’t too many things out there that you want to do that are more complicated to figure out than those. So go for it! Just tell people that you are new and still learning it. Most people are going to find that admirable if anything.

Gen X-er here… my BF (since 3rd grade) died last summer, age 59. I started writing poetry after that. Also started this YT channel so I would definitely read poetry every day!! Was a finalist in a haiku competition this spring!!! Still have my day job but who knows what’s next. We are all creators if we allow ourselves to be. My friend didn’t allow that, which was sad. So LET’S MAKE THINGS!!!

But life can be just as exciting as it is scary. Sometimes I run ahead. Sometimes, I stroll bottom line, do what you are comfortable doing.

Yes, too many people conflate their wants with actual needs and don’t take chances that are before them, but it’s still easier to take chances the more financially secure you are.
