Democrats fall in love, Republicans fall in line. That’s how we got trump for a second time. Nothing new unfortunately.
I agree. We on the left (not Dem, because I am British, but Labour supporter instead) fall into this trap all the time.
Our politicians are all about the money now. It used to be that they’d be embarrassed to behave like this but now they think they’re being clever with all this obfuscation about procedure and political stunts. If they wanted to get something done for example, tax cuts for their friends, they get it done, Republican or Democrat. Now it’s having serious consequences.

Lobbying and taking “donations” should absolutely be illegal and be prosecuted. How is that fair policy making? This happens for both R and D, and is pure CORRUPTION.
Donations cannot be forbidden, because the Supreme Court has said money is speech, and speech can’t be limited. But what we could do is forcing all large donations (more than two month of minimum wage?) to be public.

Citizens United was the nail in the coffin. But don’t get it twisted, lobbying to support neolib policies has been kosher for longer than that.
The Citizens United decision, that’s what happened.
It was common practice John McCain even worked across the aisle w Russ Feingold to limit lobbying however Citizens United stopped and control over legalized bribery.
Say it LOUDER for the people in the back; the people thinking someone is coming to “save you;” and those who are so traditional, passive, and complacent – generally hoping this too will eventually blow over.

In the past we would just have called it what it is: Corruption
Being a solutions based individual I wish to address the reality of corruption by regarding it as much an insurmountable issue as carbon monoxide without houseplants. The benefits gained from the system being exploited at expense of it it more than likely going to happen in new ways conforming to the standards set with the change, so how do we best diversify the resources which can be created through cooperation without it becoming an entrenched power dynamic that obfuscates it’s power for maintaining it?

The Dems problem is they have no identity and throw themselves behind things the average American doesn’t care about while changing nothing in our lives. Perfect atmosphere for a grifter like Trump

Way ahead of you on the Santa moment. I’m ready to abandon any Dem that doesn’t push for actual progressive policies. Folks like Jeffries and Schumer are just as conservative as your average Republican, it’s just that their idealized golden past was the 90s rather than the 50s. That simply doesn’t cut it any more.
