Thank you Dr Fung β€
Glad to know you have finally got the control of your YouTube account after it was hacked. Really happy to see you post again. π
I didn’t know he was hacked. I wondered why there wasn’t any videos.

Thank you so much, Dr Fung!
I’m finally losing and feeling so much better since finding your channel. I understand now about insulin and how my body works. Thank you!!
This is the most concise and best explanation of weight loss I have ever heard. This is the exact reason why 99% percent of people cannot lose weight. I’ve been struggling my whole life with obesity and finally feel like I have a grasp on whats happening!! Thank you
I tried the keto diet and I craved carbs all the time. I couldn’t stay on the keto diet. I found the Mayo Clinic Diet book by Donald Hensrud. This book taught how to measure calories in foods so that you will lose weight. This book also taught to have a serving of fruit (my favorite is a cup of cantaloupe) and a nonstarchy vegetable with every meal. This book also taught to eat unrefined carbs, like steel cut oats instead of instant oats. I lost weight following this diet and have kept most of the weight off since 2021. I weigh myself every day to ensure I am not gaining weight back. I now do intermittent fasting having two meals a day and sometimes one meal a day especially if I am going to a restaurant and eating a lot of calories for one meal. I don’t follow the diet as religiously as I did when I first used it to lose weight and have more fat in the diet and more refined carbs than recommended, but I still measure calories to ensure I am not overeating calories way too much. I also only eat one meal a day sometimes when I have overeaten calories on another day. Weighing myself daily helps ensure I am not gaining too much weight. I also do one meal a day when I want to lose the extra weight I see on the scale.
No. Insulin normalization is much more important to release fat, then counting calories.
β@@SimplyHuman186Read Proteinaholic by Garth Davis, a gastric bypass surgeon. All of his patients have tried the keto diet, but none of them were able to stay on the keto diet longterm. Also read Mastering Diabetes book by Cyrus Khambatta, a person with a master’s degree in nutrition sciences and a type 1 diabetic. In this book, Khambatta teaches the dangers of being on a keto diet and teaches how a diet very low in fat causes him to require less insulin per gram of carbohydrate he eats.
Agreed. I think I finally understand the role of insulin in weight loss even after watching so many videos.
Always good to see and hear you doc.
He has the gift of teaching
Glad to see you back!
When the βbody slows its metabolic rateβ how does it do this? What metabolic functions does it not do? What specific consequences does this have on the body? For instance does it slow synthesis of new cells? Or does it βslowβ the burn of energy? Can you expand more on what I means for the body to βslow its metabolic rateβ and what important body functions are not carried out because of this?
Thank you! Love your content!
Thank you for the review! I’ve lost over 100 pounds and kept it off for over 5 years now. Your book, your videos, your advice were a huge help.
Thank you!!!
Your video comes at a perfect time as I’ve been wondering why my weight loss has stalled. Your explanation makes perfect sense. Thank you!!
Such an important concept that is misunderstood by so many. Unfortunately this includes some physicians and many dieticians. All I know, is I lost 70 lbs from a high of 228 lbs by following these fairly easy to implement guidelines. One of the PAs was worried about me being too “skinny” even when my weight is smack dab in the middle of the normal BMI bracket. She was very concerned I was skipping meals. The sad thing is when obesity is so normalized that a healthcare provider feels that normal BMI is “too skinny.”
Thank you for this video! I started my diet 20/10/24. I am following 2MAD (eating twice a day) + also eating as natural as possible, no more processed foods and sugar. I now understand why many people struggle to lose weight. I also find it weird that most doctors/dieticians don’t tell patients this… Losing weight and maintaining the right mindset is also much easier now that I know how my body is working inside while I am fasting. Thanks for enlightening us with the right information Dr. Fung! π
Please note that your body does not differentiate between “natural” or processed foods. High carb foods such as potatoes, rice, pasta, oatmeal are “all natural” but will still spike your glucose and therefore insulin. High sugar fruits such as bananas, mango are “all natural” but will also spike your glucose and therefore insulin. Look at all foods equally, whether highly processed or not, through the lens of high carbs/sugar.
Dr. Fung: I found out from a recent podcast that the French eat a sweet breakfast. A typical Frenchman does not eat sausage eggs and bacon for breakfast. You have discussed the French paradox. Why don’t the French have a bigger problem with obesity? Pardon the pun. The French cuisine does have plenty of pastries. If you have an explanation, I’d love to hear it.
I’ve lived in France. There are tonnes of bakeries but traditionally they have a small breakfast, a lunch and a dinner and they don’t snack in between. Same as the US in the 50s: no one fat even though everyone had bread and potatoes and oats and allsorts. BUT they weren’t eating 6 carb-heavy meals a day so they were effectively fasting between meals and therefore not as much insulin storage as in the SAD – constantly eating and snacking ALL DAY
I lost over 40lbs following this advice and now Iβm on a mission to help others do the same πβ€
Perfect explanation! Fung, you are the best π€
To lower insulin I use: acedic acid from ACV 15 ml per day, berberine, cinnamon, omega3 2gr per day and 1h walking and 1 liter of green tea. It works, I lost 0.2 kg fat mass per day
I Was referred to this program by my dermatologists as I suffer from Psoriasis. My skin started clearing up quickly, I have so much more energy, I’m never hungry even when fasting & I’m loosing weight. This is a game changer for me & has transformed my skin condition without aggressive treatments. Jason thank you so much for sharing such a different approach that really works.
awesome. I have read that others with skin conditions have also noted marked improvement. Also true for irritable bowel syndrome IBS.
Dr Fung has knocked the ball outta the park with every video!
