Best AI Coding IDE? I Tested 5, Winner Shocked Me!

After testing every major AI coding IDE for 30 days, I've found a clear winner that shocked me. This isn't a theoretical review – I built the same trading bot with each tool and tracked real performance.

I compared Cursor, WindSurf, bolt.new, Aide, and Replit by building actual projects and measuring:
– Code generation accuracy
– Natural language understanding
– Multi-file editing capabilities
– Development speed
– Real-world functionality

🔥 TIMESTAMPS:

💰 I used the same $2,000 trading bot project from my previous video as the test case for all these tools.

Siraj!!!!! Always nice to see you. I like your reviews and metrics. I use whatever I can get for free or cheap. I use the free versions of Windsurf and Cursor. I also use VS Code with copilot (I paid for it) and Roo Code, Cline, and the new Gemini Code Assist … along with all other free Webase AI tools. I am with you that “Cellular Plan” crap for AI models got to go away.

  • @yuri.caetano says:

Yo dawg you said ide but bolt new is not a ide

  • @dseyy3285 says:

    What about VScode ??

  • @prodiqi says:

Was thinking about you and how you’ve been doing this for YEARS. Super cool to see you still in the space despite all the old bs they were aayijg about you.

  • @jakeblew says:

Vscode with copilot should at least be on the list

  • @salimalsenani2614 says:

I have used Cursor and Windsurf, and in my personal opinion, Cursor is a trash compared to Windsurf.
Windsurf is very good when you have many files in your project, it’s the best !.

    • @SirajRaval says:

Interesting point on large projects vs small projects, I’ll give windsurf another look using a large project.

  • @meyou118 says:

    i smell sponsored…

    • @Shortomate says:

Especially when he said that there is no way to run bolt locally. Bolt.diy does exactly that.

    • @fastneasy says:

My ranking after 6 months of usage
      1. Cursor
      2.Windsurf
      3. VS code with Copilot
      3. Cline, Aider, Trae
      4. Bolt, Replit

    • @SirajRaval says:

i am the sponsor for this one, as in the call to action is to join the waitlist for the Arena at the end of the video. (My upcoming AI Startup accelerator).

    • @SirajRaval says:

@@Shortomate no i was just unaware of bolt.diy , thanks for sharing

    • @SirajRaval says:

@@fastneasy i like this list but i still don’t get the hype around replit. i’m going to try replit mobile and code while on public transport to see if i can vibe code a business mvp out of it

  • @chinesesparrows says:

This seems to compare one shotting attempts to get final results within a day. Any larger projects and most fail terribly, its why many including builder io steve has reviewed several tools including those here and said cursor is still the better one. Would trust his thoroughness more than this

  • @studio-1180 says:

Great vid, super thorough & informative!! Thanks👍

  • @sprightly106 says:

how did the crypto bots do during the last 3 days?

  • @Eayoub99 says:

Bolt is nice. Bolt.diy is the open source fork. Its not as good but you run it local with your own APIs. I had good luck with Replit, hella errors though you are right. I use it for mockups and I take it to vs code with cline

  • @elliscaicedo9045 says:

    cursor has no competition

    • @SirajRaval says:

yes they do, they don’t have 1. a web app (like bolt) 2. a mobile app (like replit) 3. openai could make their own IDE

  • @sunnyahmed5935 says:

should i switch from non tech to web development ? though AI has advanced a lot😢

    • @SirajRaval says:

Yes, you are still early. People are becoming senior software engineers without writing a single line of code now. Lookup Riley Brown, he’s a great example of that.

  • @jochemvangalen9464 says:

Weird bolt sucks at the moment worked fine last week cursor and windsurf seems te best and for saas maybe databutton or replit

  • @WeylandLabs says:

(18:32) Final rankings: Bolt (#1), Cursor (#2), Windsrf (#3), Aid (#4), and Repet (#5). Save you from this …

  • @SoleAddictions says:

You didn’t give Replit a fair shake I feel. If you let it adjust its errors, it works very well. However, I agree that bolt is the best. I honestly think bolt should be used to create your main design and basis of your app; then you export to cursor to finish the app because that’s where cursor shines.

    Great video!

    we already dispatched aide

How was the cheese burger? T-shirt liked it😊

  • @zimcoder says:

    breathe man, breathe!

  • @moormanjean5636 says:

I totally disagree with your premise that speed is the main factor. I would argue that automation is the main benefit, and one consequence of automation is increased speed but automation also unlocks new levels of rigor and reasoning if done properly.
