I’m not only saving my life from misery and shame but also my wasted money on buying junk food I used to eat between meals. Thank you Dr Fung!
Oh man I know all about wasting money on junk food!!!! I’m saving soooo much money because of his tools to help us lose weight!!!!
I would be a millionaire if I had all the money I spent on bad foods especially candy. I started at an early age eating potato chips and tomato soup for lunch and candy bars and Twinkies for dessert and of course I had to have a dessert every meal and I am 75 years old so what a pity. What I could have done with all of that bad stuff that has made me now have hardening of the arteries. Fasting is the only thing I can do I have tried every day to lose weight but my sugar addiction has brought me out of it all the time. I went to a weight specialist in Palo Alto when I was 13 and he put me on a diet program with no oil no white flour no white sugar I lost weight and looked and felt the best. I tried Eileen feather gym program which was a hoax also. This fasting makes me feel better and it makesMy mind work better. The sugar only fogs up everything but I can’t seem to let it go sad story isn’t it thank you Dr. Fong you are a miracle worker
@@conniebabcock2839 and
@@conniebabcock2839 you’re only 75 yrs young. At least you have the courage to try.you’re such an inspiration for everyone.
Not to mention worthless supplements and exercise equipment
I like how you explained this. I recently changed my que. Around 9pm I would eat a small amount of sunflower or pumpkin seeds while watching a movie. At first I told myself this is better than the popcorn I used to eat. Last month I stopped night time eating and changed the que. Before a movie I do a routine with essential oils, rub it on my feet and spray some on my pillow. So, instead of sitting there struggling with not having a snack, my brain says now is the time to feel relaxed with beautiful aroumas.
Great idea!!! Thanks for this. Hubby and I are always watching something after we out the kids down and we aways want something to snack on.
Great ideia! I am struggling with snacks and movie time! Thank you!
Lovely idea!♥️
Great idea!!!
What essential oils do well for bedtime? Or starting to relax and prepare for sleep?
Child of the 70s here. We played outside after school. Mom stayed home and made amazing dinners, and all family members attended. Chips and soda were rare treats. Drive thrus barely existed. Heavy kids were rare back back then. There were rough economic times back then too.
I grew up in the Bronx and played until the sun went down. Never home. Always moving – now kids are home playing video games, not moving, snacking
True!!!
There are two factors here.
1- as everyone seems to notice, we were always on the move outside.
2- I don’t know besides the fact we ate at home. My families had gardens. No processed food.
We did NOT EAT ALL DAY LONG.
Breakfast in the morning. Then lunch. After school snack. Dinner. Maybe eve snack. Portion control definitely. Slice of pie. Not the whole pie.
So the intermittent fasting plays a part of your body getting a break from processing food all of the time.
24hr a day grazing is killing us,now that I am understanding the insulin.
Brought my A1c 6.7 down to 4.7.
Thank You for all the info.
So true Robert Collins. I remember when we had steak, it was at most 1 lb. that was split between five of us and my dad got half, so 1/2lb for 4 people,
I was one of the heavy kids, that was because as the first girl and three older brothers our parents had e cooking and I ate. I must admit that I lost the weight as I got older and soon got an after school job. You are spot on with how our families operated. Sweets were a rare treat and we ate dinner together with great thought out home cooked meals.
I have convinced myself that the reward of better health is greater that the short term reward of snacking.
Thank you for saying this!
Very good words! In crisis I remember this!
Amén and alleluia my friend!!!
There’s a saying: NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS THIN FEELS
👍🙂😉
Agreed
Amen and thank you to all below who commented
We get encouragement from each other
I see I’m not the only one in this , with the food temptations all around etc
I want to stick with this
I need too, I have to
I’m endangering my health otherwise
And my clothes are getting tighter, BP up sometimes , and that can’t be good for my health
Even now the word fasting has such a stigma attached to it. People think it’s starving yourself but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
You are right!
I love fasting and don’t listen to the office snackers who likes to judge me.
People are so friggin brainwashed.. I’m over it lol
Right! I started fasting at the beginning of this month.I’m up to drinking two smoothies a day. I don’t even crave food, if I’m hungry I will eat. People are too accustomed to breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacking and all kind of things eat to put nutrients in your body.
It’s a joke really that we are raised to be horrified of God forbid starving and death when anyone lives a healthy lifestyle and doesnt snack and eat junk 50x a day for activity and per marketing brainwashing. Lot of ignorance around fasting and its endless benefits without a doubt. People should be more horrified about poisoning themselves all their lives and causing endless conditions per comfort/instant gratification/emotional eating as opposed to fearing not eating enough. Se la vie! 😅
it’s crazy isn’t it? starving is starving. fasting is nothing close to that.
I’ve fasted 18:6 for almost a year and I’m down from 313 pounds to 208 pounds. I crave my two meals per day, but I never get hungry and the nutrition has never been better.
Did you exercise
@@nancyissa4781 just a 30 minute walk each day – nothing more.
& what supplements do you take along with 18:6
@@anjanabafna1215 Hi, I take Vitamin D 4000 iu (with K included), a quality Fish-oil supplement for Omega 3, a quality powdered liver capsule for added nutrition and a daily electrolyte capsule – for a good electrolyte balance. I rely on the quality of my food for the rest of my nutrition – like nutritional yeast and ground flaxseed.
Hope this helps.
Do you fast the 18:6 every day?
Dr Fung I’m a register nurse working for an insurance company I been a renal nurse for 11 years and i been recommended you work for years i was able to stop diabetes for my dad and reverse kidney disease. I thank you so much for the teaching that you give the world.
Can u tell us your dad’s plan
Probably keto. Or very low carb
@@thatonegamergirl1182Stop drinking man milk.🥛
It is scary that you are a nurse and you grammar is that bad. Sorry.
My uncle is one of 8 he had garden full of fresh fruits and vegetables….he’s 94 looks like he’s 70…glory to God.
@immafinna betryna Eating healthy is good a thing is all I was saying. I pray that you stay blessed.
Mother Nature.
Started low carb, moved to keto. Extended my eating window bit by bit. Now, I am doing 2 meals a day 2MAD, I’m down 50 lbs (my body’s goal weight. I continue to do intermittent fasting IF as it is part of my eating pattern now. It’s strange to eat my 1st meal at what used to be breakfast at 9. I have embraced the keto way of eating. I have maintained my current weight and it is true it does seem effortless. (no snacking). I love my weightloss, which was good, but my better overall my health is better. My saying is “nothing tastes as good a as skinny feels”.
Oh, please. Glory to God? Where was God when he gained all of that weight in the first place? He lost weight on his own, not by any devine intervention. Give your uncle the credit that he deserves and do not give the credit to God ! ! !
Sorry you must be confused about another post! I never ever said my Uncle was heavy and lost weight! He was always a slim man. Sounds like you want a reason to be mad about the word GOD! THE WORD GOD IS UP SETTING YOUR DEMONS! BUT I WILL CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR YOU! HAVE A BLESSED DAY ❤

fully occupied 😂 no time for snacks😎
And why did many people move to eating 6x a day? Two plus hours of commuting to work & back!
Thank you, this will help me on my weight loss journey. I’m on Bright Line Eating program with Susan Pearce Thompson.
As a farmer this is how you fatten up the cattle before slaughter, feed them often.
I personally eat 10 to 12 times a week and am always full of energy.
I walk 10K steps most every day and workout fasted 4 times a week yet I hold my weight around 200 lbs, I used to be 320 lbs 2 years ago.
Intermittent fasting with a low carbohydrate/keto lifestyle with good nutrition rocks.
I’m a 62 year old Male.
🤜🤛👏👏👏
Wow!
Your height?
As a farmer, I can confirm this is how we fatten hogs n goats.
As a farmer/ mil wife that better be able to keep up work Olympic class athlete, I can confirm fasting, walking with 4 -6 flakes is hay, two 30# buckets and doing loaded hip thrusts and a glorious garden with lard, tallow, real cream in coffee, real butter& whole milk with no low fat but only raw honey & stevia – i can confirm all the above
😢
Food in the 70’s weren’t as chemical/poison laden, inflammatory, and estrogenized. We moved so much more, too…no cell phones.
It was probably in its infancy with the advent of the Atari and Nintendo game systems. Not too far behind was home computers.
My neighbor’s little girl started having periods when she was only 9. The doctor said it was because of the excess estrogen she was getting from eating eggs and drinking milk. (Hormones are fed to animals to increase their yields and size.)
I wonder if this is the reason why so many older boys and men have been feminized. I know this is a controversial thing to write, but it’s something I’ve been wondering about for years.
Hormones in dairy have been around for a long time and far less safe than now. It’s definitely not the milk lawl. Probably various soy being ingested that we know act as phytoestrogens and the overabundance of sugar.
@@zahzahzee Did you know that the insecticides and herbicides sprayed on the fields also has hormones in them? They also spray hormones on fruit trees and vegetables to increase size and yield. Fish farms use hormones also, to make fish bigger.
Pro tip: Use your procrastination to your advantage. Everytime you feel like snacking, just tell yourself, “I’ll snack later.”
This trick worked for me to quit smoking. And of course the craving only lasted less than a solid minute, and I would remind myself of it again, till I had forgotten the craving.
Haha! Brilliant
That’s a great idea! Thanks, I’ll try it later😏
I like using laziness too. Don’t buy bad food when grocery shopping so then when I crave it I have to go to the store to get it and don’t want to. LOL
Tell yourself that I will go out for a walk and eat later.
I walk 10k steps a day, I only eat Whole Foods, grilled chicken or salmon, and brown rice and broccoli. 3 meals a day, no snacking. Food is just fuel now, I don’t eat out of boredom or for comfort. I cut out all sugar. I don’t drink my calories. I’m down 30 pounds in 3 months. I’m never hungry. Anyone can follow this. 🙏
yes, no snacking helps with reducing weight.
Congratulations! Well done @Jeremy King.
Well done! While broccoli is a great choice, you should consider adding more veggie variety and legumes. One veggie doesn’t contain all the beneficial phytonutrients and micronutrients. It’s best to eat a rainbow of colors in plants. Cruciferous and green leafy ones have the lowest calories.
Peace begins on your plate, leave the animals alone.
It’s absolutely the way to go but not eating out of boredom or comfort (or even tiredness, for me personally) is really hard. Or maybe just the transition is hard. But it takes a lot of mental energy, really..
i remember that Dr’s used to say that eating 6 small meals a day was better than 3 meals a day. I think this encouraged grazing all day.
Media saying in one ear we needed “many small meals” and ads in the other ear telling us a pound of starch, salt, fat and sugar is a “snack.”
Exactly.
I used to think, fast food chains were responsible for obesity epidemic, but it’s actually those doctors who advice about increasing meal frequency.
Doctors have a big hand in this obesity epidemic. They know it, but most will never dare admit to it. They also know that they push drugs rather than duly educate their patients. The morality and ethics are overdue to mindset change. The American food pyramid is blasphemy. Its image should be posted with a poison sign, to beware!!
@@rightlibertarian8355i think it’s a combination of the two, not one vs the other. I vote’both’.
I also remember doctors saying this. Such a lie.
I’ve been on 18:6 fasting for three weeks now and when my body feels like it’s hungry I brew fresh ginger tea, no sugar and that eliminate the hunger. I also stop using sugar, get my sugar naturally from fruits and I only drink water. I am feeling good about this decision!! 🙏🏽
Thank you…I am going to try the ginger tea!
His way of speaking is a big factor of why people get encouraged to do it, there’s very few people that have this gift. He keeps it real with no condescending tone. And he is never selling anything aggressively. We are so glad that you exist. Thankyou from the heart!
That, and it’s easier “as a couple” to enter this lifestyle, and that it’s harder if one of you wants to change, while the other wants to maintain the status quo. I’m so grateful my hubby, was in with us fasting, not eating carbs (including home made bread 😞), refined foods, eating out, and loads of home made baked goods (yes, I’m a great cook lol). It’s paid off in March it’ll be a year, and we EACH have lost 75 pounds ~ that’s 150 pound person between us. lol So happy, and over the moon thrilled with our progress. Good luck, stay safe, and God bless.
These are strategies that make sense and go beyond what we see all the time like: workout, count calories, cut sugar.
This is a plan! Thank you!!!
❤
@@fromn.y.top.r.5889 that’s one thing I like about fasting portions of the day, we really haven’t counted a calorie or anything else. We just try to get most of our carbs from veggies, and the odd serving of brown rice or oatmeal. But we haven’t counted a single calorie ~ which I detest with a passion. lol good luck!
@@Bella-gj6wcyou are lucky, my husband is as slim as a rake, never puts on a pound, and loves his home made bread, which I have to make agh! Before I started making the bread, my weight was great, since bread making I’ve gained 15 kilos! He won’t make it! I try to avoid it, I’ve told him, I won’t make it, but then he just eats more of everything else. So annoying, it is sad that he doesn’t seem to understand my anguish and torment. Honestly it’s no joke. You’d think he’d want to do everything to help me stay slim but no seems not 😢 good on both of you though 🎉
Pro tip: make it a habit to watch fasting educational videos everyday day. It helps you stay on the wagon.
It’s me! I do 20:4 IF and OMAD
As a child of the 70’s, we didn’t snack. Maybe a 12 oz soda every few days, but mealtime was mealtime. My mother and grandmother used to say “the kitchen is closed” if you tried to grab something after dinner and after the kitchen was cleaned. This was about six o’clock.
Fast forward to being 18 in 1989, stuffing bran muffins or bagels covered in margarine in our faces thinking we were going to be so healthy. Gained 130 lbs in the 1990s and I’m just now loosing it by going back to telling myself “the kitchen is closed”.
“The kitchen is closed.” I love this…words to live by!
Not to get too religious, but Doctor Fung is a real blessing. The doctor who got me off the path to diabetes (I was pre diabetic when I started going to him) and pointed me in a direction that I lost 80 pounds – dropping from 280 to 200. But the thing I remember is when that doctor walked me through charts and tables – that he drew on-the-spot, right on a yellow legal pad – explaining the problems with going onto diabetes meds. Anyway, the thing that changed my life was his just being frank, honest and science-based is his recommendations. His demeanor was a lot like Dr. Fung’s.
It looks like Dr. Fung is one of those rare cases where the doctor really wants you to get rid off the disease for good. Not like most that want a client for life (stable but still coming in and get charged every time).
I’m doing IF now and when my window closes at night, I get crocheting out to keep my hands busy in front of TV. Really helps.
I also started knitting as a substitute for snacking/eating! It has helped a lot and now down 40lbs 🙂
Bubble wrap helps too
