They’d Rather Trump Than Bernie

They’re not powerless—they’re just not interested in real change. Until we start primarying them, nothing’s going to shift.

  • @pri.sci.lla. says:

Democrats fall in love, Republicans fall in line. That’s how we got trump for a second time. Nothing new unfortunately.

    • @MissRG_THFC says:

I agree. We on the left (not Dem, because I am British, but Labour supporter instead) fall into this trap all the time.

  • @dragonshydragon says:

Our politicians are all about the money now. It used to be that they’d be embarrassed to behave like this but now they think they’re being clever with all this obfuscation about procedure and political stunts. If they wanted to get something done for example, tax cuts for their friends, they get it done, Republican or Democrat. Now it’s having serious consequences.

  • @rubybirdwatson says:

My girl, you are absolutely right!

  • @thebonniewong says:

Lobbying and taking “donations” should absolutely be illegal and be prosecuted. How is that fair policy making? This happens for both R and D, and is pure CORRUPTION.

    • @Achill101 says:

Donations cannot be forbidden, because the Supreme Court has said money is speech, and speech can’t be limited. But what we could do is forcing all large donations (more than two month of minimum wage?) to be public.

    • @Chic.Geek75 says:

      Menendez is in jail

    • @MarkDureezNuts says:

Citizens United was the nail in the coffin. But don’t get it twisted, lobbying to support neolib policies has been kosher for longer than that.

    • @lw3764 says:

The Citizens United decision, that’s what happened.

    • @RisingRecluse says:

It was common practice John McCain even worked across the aisle w Russ Feingold to limit lobbying however Citizens United stopped and control over legalized bribery.

  • @gregory650 says:

Say it LOUDER for the people in the back; the people thinking someone is coming to “save you;” and those who are so traditional, passive, and complacent – generally hoping this too will eventually blow over.

  • @ingothitrust5248 says:

This is why lobbying and special interests have absolutely no place in a representative form of government.

    • @vtelopez492 says:

      100%, I can’t believe it’s a legal practice.

    • @Huorfern says:

In the past we would just have called it what it is: Corruption

    • @THRLGRNDHG says:

Being a solutions based individual I wish to address the reality of corruption by regarding it as much an insurmountable issue as carbon monoxide without houseplants. The benefits gained from the system being exploited at expense of it it more than likely going to happen in new ways conforming to the standards set with the change, so how do we best diversify the resources which can be created through cooperation without it becoming an entrenched power dynamic that obfuscates it’s power for maintaining it?

    • @THRLGRNDHG says:

      *Asking for pretend

    • @ms-abominable says:

@@THRLGRNDHG i saw an idea a few years ago that i thought might work: public office is a selection like jury duty lol. citizens are randomly selected to a public position like senator, conscripted for lets say 2 years.

  • @dynamicworlds1 says:

    It’s just good-cop/bad-cop.
    Oligarchs gonna oligarch.
The center-right is still right wing and will ALWAYS side with the far-right over anything left of center.

  • @jessicacantu3394 says:

I love Bernie. He is the best president we never had.

  • @janebaker4912 says:

I feel the burn! …but im Australian.

  • @POOOOOOOO416 says:

Thankyou for fucks sake, I felt like I was being gaslit collectively. Been saying things like this for years

  • @ConorRyan-kw4sx says:

You nailed it!! On social issues (generally), one side deviates from the other. On economic issues, they’re carbon copies of each other – and they both drink from the same trough.

    • @Lexoduss says:

oooh this was so well said

    • @kokolatte825 says:

Thank you. I would say, they are more a like than different for the last 4 years and people would look at me crazy. The Dems problem is they have no identity and throw themselves behind things the average American doesn’t care about while changing nothing in our lives. Perfect atmosphere for a grifter like Trump

  • @stacyryonew2702 says:

Yes!!! Thank you for saying!! I feel like I’ve been hitting my head against a wall for the past few years trying to get people to see this.

  • @PacheGayd says:

I just signed up to volunteer with someone trying to primary my Democrat Representative, because you are absolutely right.

  • @policymatters-0801 says:

    Cooperatives, Unions, and Reindustrialization!

  • @BabaCorva says:

Way ahead of you on the Santa moment. I’m ready to abandon any Dem that doesn’t push for actual progressive policies. Folks like Jeffries and Schumer are just as conservative as your average Republican, it’s just that their idealized golden past was the 90s rather than the 50s. That simply doesn’t cut it any more.

  • @lovelyweather8794 says:

    Fed up of corporate democrats

  • @adlockhungry304 says:

My exact sentiments, just articulated better than I could have.

  • @kaitlin8562 says:

You got it exactly!! Absolutely loving your no bs political commentary lately! As an aside I’d love to see a collab with Gary Stevenson on this topic

  • @mingomango1 says:

Yesssssssssssss please we need so many people taking about this
