Backed by groundbreaking scientific research and studies on both humans and animals, we dive into how fasting impacts nutrient sensors like insulin and mTOR to promote healing and reduce inflammation।
🔍 What’s Covered in This Video:
1️⃣ Diabetic Kidney Disease Reversal:
➡ Discover how a fasting-mimicking diet reduced protein in the urine, a key marker of kidney disease severity।
2️⃣ Mechanisms of Healing:
➡ How fasting affects nutrient sensors (insulin and mTOR) to reduce growth signals, fibrosis, and scarring।
3️⃣ Impact on Glomerular Diseases:
➡ Insights into how fasting reduces inflammation in autoimmune kidney diseases like IgA nephropathy, membranous nephritis, and MPGN।
4️⃣ Polycystic Kidney Disease:
➡ How fasting and caloric restriction normalize kidney size and function in this genetic disease।
5️⃣ Human and Animal Studies:
➡ Highlights from human trials and rat studies that demonstrate the potential of fasting to protect kidney health।
🎯 Why Watch This Video?
➡ Understand the science behind fasting and kidney disease reversal।
➡ Learn about new treatments beyond traditional, toxic drugs like prednisone।
➡ Explore how fasting may stimulate regenerative processes in the kidneys।
✨ Key Takeaways:
🔹 Fasting lowers inflammation markers like CRP and growth factors like IGF-1, which are critical in autoimmune and chronic kidney diseases।
🔹 Fasting-mimicking diets reduce kidney damage and promote healing at the cellular level।

Fasting = healing
@@tomlagesse6635 so true my psoriasis
It’s fundamentally true. Your body works on a balanced principle of growth and repair. Eating is working, fasting is repairing.
Fasting and keto has improved my kidney function from 36 gfr to 52 gfr
what you eat please tell me and timing
Thank you for sharing your beautiful progress toward health. Beautiful

Taurine significantly increases estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) Stage 3 or greater when normalized to baseline values by the sixth month of treatment, and continues to improve significantly for up to 2.25 years.
Thank you so very much for the knowledge. I have followed you for 3 years now. I am 51 yrs old .I got PKD and I fasting , my kidneys function is normal. I restrict carbohydrates and protein. I do exercise too
My kidney function recently declined on OMAD. I have worked out that I wasn’t drinking enough fluids over the course of a 24 hour period.
What’s in your OMAD?
@ One meal a day. A variant of time restricted eating/intermittent fasting 🤓

This is the first shred of hope I have had for my medullary polycystic kidney disease!!! Thank you!!!
Do not lose hope, the body is strong. Nature knows what to do. Trust yourself.
The proper human diet is fasting and carnivore.
Hi I have multiple polychystic kidney as well , I fasting 15hours almost everyday
Wow. I’m fasting and doing a keto gluten 🆓 diet 🥗 🥩 for my inflammation and my gluten allergy. Thanks 🙏.
@@loricannon2988 I have psoriasis & switching to a low carb super clean zero processed food diet with fasting has changed my life. Results were amazing. Off all treatments now just fasting & eating a low carb healthy diet to keep things under control.
What do you eat And what is your fasting schedule?
Some people are saying fasting is bad. Paul Saladino is saying it may cause fat to get into the heart. I don’t think so. I will continue fasting.
I’ve been doing 16:8 IF since 2018. I am 61 and my cholesterol and triglycerides are low on my blood tests. So, no IF does not cause issues with fat deposits in the arteries. The reason I am here is because my kidney function numbers went up. eFGR and creatinine went out of normal range. I think it was from too much coffee and sugar and tea and not enough plain water. I am getting another blood test in 2 weeks to see if it improved.
Paul is an obsessive compulsive who goes from one obsession to another. I don’t trust him any longer. Each obsession is followed by how convinced he is that “this is the way”.
There is ALWAYS someone with a problem to a solution…
Fasting may or may not be good for you… but I’d rather give credibility to a more objective nephrologist like Dr. Fung than a wishy washy board certified psychiatrist like Paul.

I love you Doc. Thank you so much . I need to Reverse cataract.
Got your books, watch your videos, been fasting now for several years… works wonders. Thanks Doc
I’ve got one kidney my Createn levels while no cause for concern has improved & my psoriasis has almost disappeared by intermittent fasting & eating a super clean low carb diet. My dermatologist recommended this way of life & it just worked ❤
Wow! Good dermatologist.
Great. Please share your protein sources if you dont mind…
@@Tirelesswarrior I eat all Meats, eggs & cheese with some nuts chea seeds apart from that tons of low carb veg. I don’t eat bread or patatos anymore but eat celeriac mash as its a low carb alternative. I eat zero processed foods now as its full of sugar & additives so just make all my food from scratch.
@@jamesdellaneve9005 yes he is good took 9 weeks to see a massive difference in my skin. Off all treatments now & just maintain everything through diet. Recommending Jason’s methods has been a game changer. I don’t eat any processed foods anymore cook everything from scratch but just eat a super healthy low carb diet. 9 weeks ago my skin was awful today I’m in a great place & 2 stones lighter but never hungry from fasting my body is just used to it now
I’ve been struggling going on longer fast again cause I was on a heavy Carnivore diet. Switched to a more normal diet allowed me to fast longer, days longer. Thanks for the mTor info Doc, that was prohibiting me from fasting. Now I have to be conscience of mTor and Insulin now.
Last spring while doing carnivore my kidney function in my annual blood work came down sharply. A month later I increased my water intake and did more fasting and the kidney function showed higher than it has been in 17 years.
Could be because of carbs and sugar. That’s what I think happened to me. I was also drinking waaaay too much coffee and tea during the day plus other drinks that were not water.
@ I was carnivore the whole time. I suspect the down turn was a virus. But upturn was a 17 year record.
I knew it!! This is such great news. I’m caregiver for my 71 year old brother who is disabled and my 96 year old mother in our home. Both have stage three CKD. Both have been stable and are doing very well. I have been applying some of the information I have learned from you; your books, lectures etc. that helped me lose 160lbs and reversed ALL my health issues. I’m 61 and been maintaining well. I still fast often to maintain and eat a very clean, LCHF keto/ ketovore diet.
. With my family, I stick mostly to real, low carb foods and feed later breakfasts and earlier dinners. Thank you for all you do.☺️🙏

Dr Jason Fung thank you so much for sharing this insightful and scientific knowledge ❤🎉❤
Dr Fung is a calm voice of reason that persuades the sickest bodies to health.
Ive got stage 3 CKD due to IGA neuropathy which is believed to be an auto immune disease.
This is the first time Ive heard Dr Fung refer to other kidney diseases that aren’t diabetic related.
Thank you.
Thank you for your continued work, Dr. Fung!
Your advice changed my life for the better 7 years ago… I dropped all processed foods and began OMAD. Total game changer and so simple and FREE! Still , 7 years in I still learn something incredible from every one of your postings . Thank you ❤
