@@MelissaNeill so how do you coordinate meals and training. Does it matter? Do you eat your meal then strenghth train. Best before & after meals? And how long should each weight train session need to be. Is it better to workout in AM or PM? Do you have another video that explains these questions? Not trying to extreme body build or do competitions or be in gym working out all day everyday, don’t need to really lose much weight either , but want to address the looseness that I’ve started to notice upper arms, belly/hip/thigh areas, and maintain muscle and strength but want to do it in a healthy way using real food as much as possible. Looking for a simple program. I see how this could become an addiction though especially when you start seeing results..😁 Understanding the science of the body helps a lot. I listened to this 3x already and just subscribed as well. Thank you for this summary and for your service!

Always appreciate hardwork and dedication. Much love and respect. I’d love to know with all due respect without coming across as rude or disrespectful, was losing your chest a concern?? Nobody talks about this.

I dont know why I’m balling my eyes out while this lady is talking. Her words “I’m worthy of this” pierced my heart and struck a chord. I give up so easily and I never think I’m worth it. She is an Ernstein and inspiration to me. I’m 43 and just had a baby and feel like I cant handle a workday. Well thank you , if you see this you turned a switch on in 1 person today and I’m going to get up and start. I can do it.

  • @BASSISTHENEWBLACK says:

    This video is like gold.
    1. Eat for energy before strength training
    2. Reps of 8-12 of heavy weights 3 – 10 sets. 30min per session
    3. Enough calories
Stopped IF and eating protein after strength training to build more muscle. 35% protein 35% carbs 35% fat.
More consistent in higher calories and clean eating. Cut back on cardio and had strength training 4-5 times a day.
Get the mindset right. Consistency over time is the key.

  • @jedrashidul6952 says:

Amazing. I’m a PT & I must say, ma’am, if everyone over 40 train as hard as you do I’m gonna be out of biz soon cause no one’s gonna have joint pain no more🤣

  • @micheletedrick3649 says:

THANK YOU!! Someone I can identify with in age, mistakes I’m making and frustrations I’m feeling about training results. Absolutely refreshing to see someone who isn’t in their 20’s looking fierce!!!🥳

    • @dorism4697 says:

I just turned 60 so I love watch and be inspired by ladies like Wendy Ida who is 69, Denise Austin 64, and the amazing Ernestine Shepherd who is 85 and is one of the oldest bodybuilders! These older, and physically and mentally strong ladies are raising the bar!

  • @blueperseus says:

I’m a guy who works out a lot — this lady is giving information/insights that took me a few years to learn — she is basically summarizing the whole science of bodybuilding (she even covers the importance of mindset!) — and so on point! Fantastic video! *Liked, Subscribed, and Loved!* — from USA

Excellent advise- I lost 90 lbs 3 years ago, strength training changed my life. I’m 54 today, never looked, felt better.

  • @Lady.Luck. says:

I’m only 35 but lost a lot of muscles over the years from working a desk job. I was eating 1600 calories and walking and still weighed over 200 lbs… For years! My metabolism was completely at a standstill. Only a couple weeks of weight training and I’m already seeing results it honestly makes me want to cry

    • @Penelope416 says:

That is great to hear. Glad that’s working out for you. You can also look into Reverse Dieting.

  • @cindychele says:

This was so encouraging. After letting myself go to care for my mother in her final years and months, I have begun my weight loss and muscle tone journey at age 51. It’s time to care for myself again. I have struggled with eating and body image issues my entire life.

    • @MelissaNeill says:

      you got this ❤️

    • @yourstrulyregina says:

@michelezdanowicz I m with you, it’s only after seeing the last years of my deceased parents, I started to take notice on how important it is to stay active, to keep fit and to nourish both my body and my mind. I spent my early years caring for everyone else except myself, it’s like a wake up call at 62. Love!

    • @BetterMe981 says:

@@yourstrulyregina Same situation for me, at 60. We can do it! So glad I found this video.

@yourstrulyregina I’m right there with you! You’re not alone. Thanks for sharing and sorry for your losses. Self care is vital to our well-being.

  • @lonimcgackin3062 says:

Yessss!!! As a 41-year-young fitness trainer, I 100% support this message! What a refreshing video to see amongst the multiple 20-something influencers that share advice that only works for other 20-something’s. Our bodies, our hormones, and our needs are different. It doesn’t mean we can’t achieve our goals! It means we have to work smarter and differently. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for sharing your insight and journey. By the way-you have the most adorable voice!

  • @ThriftThreadThrive says:

  • @juliesantanastasia5705 says:

As a former personal trainer for NATO and body builder, I can share that for me to build muscle fast I went as heavy as I could and did 3 to 6 reps at 3 sets. I built muscle fast and lost fat fast!! I ate healthy before and after my workouts and I lost unwanted weight!! I ate a ton of WHOLE EGGS!! I still workout the same and I am 50 yrs young. I do not look my age!!

    • @doml5636 says:

That’s really helpful – thank you!

    • @sylveonplays9538 says:

      ❤️

    • @ltorresbaby says:

Any recommendations on how doing this if my joints aren’t as strong. I have arthritis and I used to workout at the gym to gain muscles and lose body fat but I couldn’t lift practically any weight without hurting my joints. I decided to workout at home just using my body weight in my workouts as my dr recommended with “no additional weight” but this seems to help for weight loss not as well for building muscle for toning my body. Too many softy areas now. Any recommendations? Btw I’m 55.

    • @moniquescott7117 says:

I should I start please help

    • @homodeus8713 says:

What did you eat before working out?

  • @justinajones3000 says:

I wasn’t getting anywhere with IF and HIIT. Thank you for bringing us back to reality: you want to be lean, you want muscle? You got to eat and put the running sneakers away. Thanks Melissa.

  • @sharona6857 says:

Omg I’m doing exactly that! I’m 57 yo with a lot of body fat! Intermittent fasting and eating low carbs. I’m getting 1300 calories/day. I lost 25 lbs but not in the midsection. I will definitely make the necessary changes!! Thank you so much!
