The REAL Keys to Longevity – 2 Key Factors | Jason Fung

In this video, Dr. Jason Fung breaks down the most crucial factors for living a long and healthy life—and it’s not all about cholesterol! 🌟 If you’re aiming to improve your healthspan and longevity, you need to focus on the diseases that pose the biggest risks: cardiovascular disease (heart disease and stroke) and cancer.

What You’ll Learn:

Cardiovascular Disease: Learn why heart disease and stroke are the leading causes of death and how type 2 diabetes dramatically increases your risk. Dr. Fung shares insights from a massive study involving 1.5 million participants across 34 countries!

Diabetes vs. Cholesterol: Discover why type 2 diabetes is a much more significant risk factor for heart disease compared to LDL cholesterol. The data is clear: controlling diabetes can add years to your life, while lowering cholesterol may only add a few days.

Cancer Risks: Understand the major factors that contribute to cancer, including smoking and obesity. Dr. Fung highlights how diet and obesity are more critical than many other commonly discussed risks.

The Power of Fasting: Learn how fasting can help reverse type 2 diabetes and obesity, leading to a healthier, longer life. Dr. Fung explains how extending your fasting periods can help your body burn excess glucose and fat, significantly improving your health.

Why This Matters:
By focusing on controlling type 2 diabetes and managing your weight through diet and fasting, you can drastically reduce your risk of major diseases and enhance your healthspan. This video is packed with actionable advice and is a must-watch if you’re serious about living a longer, healthier life.

Lets not forget all the Negative effects that come from statins

But how are the poor pharmaceutical companies going to survive if we peasants simply eat a healthy diet!

  • @seanhennessey9058 says:

Excellent summary! You need to get in front of medical students.

    Thanks, Dr. Fung!

  • @Mudrijash779 says:

Processed carb and processed plant oil addiction are the main reasons why there are so many illnesses nowadays. Little bit of white sugar here and there is not gonna make you sick but most people don’t have control they just keep overeating. Also stress and genetics can be one of the causes.

    • @andrewnorris5415 says:

Agreed. Processed meat and sat fat is even worse, though. It’s generally the totality of the diet that counts for risk. SAD diet is pizza and MCDonalds hamburgers.

    • @Mudrijash779 says:

Depends which type of saturated fat. If it’s hidrogenated palm oil then it’s poison. But butter, cream, dark chocolate, coconut oil and other animal saturated fat like lard, chicken fat are healthy. Processed meat definitely bad, full of salt, additives, nitrates, smoke..

    • @Mudrijash779 says:

@@andrewnorris5415 depends which type of saturated fat. If it’s hydrogenated palm oil then it’s bad. But animal fats, coconuts, mango kernel oil and cacao butter are healthy saturated fats. I agree on processed meat definitely unhealthy.

  • @MarkCullen1 says:

I’m in shock! Thank you for this. I would never ever have taken statins, and certainly stopped sooner when side effects started. Thankfully not on the other alternative medications either. I am so tired of unscientific guidelines being presented as factually based, and benefits being implied as important when the gains are utterly marginal. I have read J Fung’s books and watched videos of his for years and trust his words more than my doctor or UK NHS guidelines. The public expects the medical profession to act professionally, and what we get is organisational incompetence at best. Still shaking my head at how the lifetime benefit of statins is probably less than the time required to physically take the things. Utterly and completely Bonkers!!!

Having the right tools and information is important: whole foods, regular fasting, quality sleep, and stress management. Mindfulness and sticking with it are the keys to using these tools. All the best to you.

Im on day 39 of a 40 day Fast. Ive dropped over 19Kg so far. I feel great, sleeping better, feel and look much lighter. I recommend a good Fast for everyone. (Male, 49, 6’1″, was 119Kg 39 days ago, now 100Kg)

    • @Lisa-yd5ov says:

      Amazing!!!!
You might already know that but just in case: look into refeeding after fasting. Especially after a long fast as you are doing make sure you get a healthy transition.

    • @gloriajackson2021 says:

I would be afraid to eat again lol.

    • @pitmonk says:

@@gloriajackson2021 I dont want to but I have a wedding to go to so will stop at 40 days. I’ll resume later in the year to get down to 85Kg.

    • @pitmonk says:

@@Lisa-yd5ov I have a delicious water melon sitting in the fridge, and whilst consuming some of that I’ll be cooking up a pot of creamy chicken and mushroom soup to see me through the rest of day 1. In the past, thats all Ive needed to do before eating pretty much anything on day 2.

    • @Lisa-yd5ov says:

Happy refeeding! And a great time at the wedding! 🙂

  • @readthebook55 says:

Thank you! This is the first year my lab work said I am no longer prediabetic. If I start to go off track, I watch Dr. Fung’s videos.

  • @bnice8940 says:

When Doctors say “lose weight” they know what they’re talking about. I was morbidly obese and had many health issues related to my obesity (Type 11 Diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure (210/110), arthritis and fatty liver disease). I had difficulty walking, and getting up off the chair. I have started exercising everyday (30 minutes to one hour walk everyday) and have lost over 130 pounds. I am now only taking blood pressure medication and my Cardiologist told me I may be able to stop taking my blood pressure medication. I’m 62 years old and feel g-r-e-a-t! My best advice is: lose weight and start walking. You’ll notice a difference making gradual changes. Slow and steady wins the race! 😊🚶‍♀🚶‍♀
