Nobody Expected 100 % AI DOOM

Check out the full paper to learn all the detail about how they let agents play the game and then used their learnings to create a fully generative game engine.

    The Matrix 😮

This is INSANE!!! Think of the possibilities!

GTA is about to get real good.

Today it’s games tomorrow it’s VR in META

  • @PandosII says:

Realtime adaptive difficulty settings with millions of parameters that adapt with every move you make to analyse your skill in realtime would be cool. It would keep single player games right on the edge of challenge and reward.

  • @NaionProductions says:

Maybe you shouldve compared this ai gen vs normal world generation in games? (like in minecraft) I struggle to see the revolutionamazement.

    • @aiadvantage says:

Great point. Procedural generation simply uses a randomizer attached to various assets to create a unique map whereas this literally comes up with the game meaning every second of it is unique. This opens up possibilities like creating the story, characters, difficulty, sound,… everything based on your interaction with the game as you play it. You could imagine a rpg that is truly shaped by every single interaction with it. No preset paths, no branching logic. Just pure story. Ofc this is far away as doom only works right now because you don’t need more than 2,3 seconds of context but it will be possible one day.

  • @noone-ld7pt says:

Damn, and it seems so many of the next gen components are already quite far in development:
    1. Sora level video generation.
    2. Neuralink direct brain interfaces.
    3. Nvidia providing Orders of magnitude increase in compute over the next decade.
    4. Algorithmic, architectual and approach improvements will close the gap on compute requirements from the other end.

Suddenly the actual Matrix seems like something we could realistically see in the next decade or two.

  • @whizadree says:

Isn’t that what consciousness is and what life could well be if you believe in the holographic universe principle

  • @abramjones9091 says:

I won’t be impressed until AI builds an economic game with dynamic industry and finance. Humans have only done this a few times.

  • @thinkbuddyai says:

This is truly a major step forward for AI developments. As we continue to progress at this pace, we will see more and more 100% 🚀

  • @ElTecnomagoai says:

I can’t wait to hang out with Link ! ❤

  • @henriquematias1986 says:

Well based on DOOM haha it’s not like it invented all the game mechanics and everything right? Still based on certain rules as aspects that were defined.

It’s not like it’s generating a completely new game and completely new set of rules or is it?

    • @1lostplatoon says:

i was thinking the same, if it invented a New archetype on its own that would be actually impressive.

    • @Yipper64 says:

Well I mean not even just the game mechanics, every visual element, even the map layout is 1:1 with Doom.
There’s a sense in which I have to ask, what was even accomplished here? At best its essentially an emulator that can copy a game, but this says nothing of its potential as actual generative AI.

    • @arifcanaksoy5377 says:

It is exactly the same as the game called BLOOD

  • @music_news888 says:

    This is world 0.01ver

  • @Ben_D. says:

This was like a tiny little spark of what will eventually become personal entertainment. On bot, entertaining/educating/assisting one person. You mentioned netflix. This will eventually be a Netflix for an audience of one. Steam games library for an audience of one. Pornhub for an audience of one. PhD level education… for one. All of it.

  • @malakcoccode says:

we’ll be able to ask AI to create our dream games or dream porns

  • @Yipper64 says:

Alright so firstly im no AI hater or anything, I watch this channel and channels like this a lot because I *like* AI. I think its fun.
But one thing I will always assert is that a computer cannot be creative. And I want to be a game developer so this topic hits home a little more than other things.
There’s something fundamental to the human experience that you just cant replicate with a neural network. And it will never happen.
At a certain point you peel back the layers, and what is a computer doing? Calculating binary. high signals and low signals. Fundamentally, that’s all a computer does. This bedrock of how a computer functions means that no matter what you do with a computer on a certain level it is only doing calculations. And essentially when it comes to this technology what you are getting as an output is the *average* of some kind of dataset. Plus some algorithms to like, smooth out the result, all that. Its taking noise and calculating numbers that fit the average of a dataset.
This is not how the human mind works. There’s something more to it than raw calculations. And that’s where creativity comes from.
The main thing these systems are fully incapable of doing is essentially, innovation. Which when it comes to videogames… Its already an oversaturated market, the only way that any game will have any kind of merit is if its doing something innovative and different. An AI is incapable of this task. Now AI being used in a certain way *can* be the part that is innovative, but with a hand crafted exterior. Not something that is fully AI generated. That will never have a purpose. It didnt come from anyone saying something it came from a computer calculating the average.

Im also not even convinced that the claim is even true. That the game is AI generated… Like it doesnt just look like doom, it *is* doom. The map layout is 1:1. Completely. A lot of this AI stuff is oversold smoke and mirrors and im not convinced of anything about this.

  • @edzehoo says:

I believe this is how our reality and universe works too… It was simply “willed” into existence by a God or Gods, all the rules of our universe wasn’t built and defined from scratch

  • @freyna says:

As one of the best paper reviewers would say, what a time to be alive.

Igor, this isn’t new or groundbreaking. Because our reality is the simulation, as NPCs, our algorithms have made us discover the tech of our simulation. Every time we open our eyes, the light diffusers into our eye receptors to form the world around us in an instant.

    😊😮
